Hi Everyone,
I know it has been a while since my last post, and a lot has happened. Not just wedding planning (although I have made a lot of headway there too), but just in general. The biggest thing is that we moved! …down the hall. It is a bigger place though, which the cats seem to love. However, the move was a bit of a nightmare. The day we were supposed to move, the complex said the apartment we were moving into was flooded and we had to wait a few days. So we waited, and then went for the keys again, but the repairs were taking longer than expected so we still had to wait another week. By that point, you would have expected everything to be perfect right? Wrong! There were (and are) still quite a few repairs needed after they moved us in. It really has been a headache.
All in all, we are moved and doing better though. So on to the wedding business. I picked out my dress and ordered it! I’m just waiting for it to come in to get the alterations. Our artist finished out invitations!! And I’ve not only decided on table centerpieces, but started collecting the pieces needed to make them. I also decided on a hashtag: #HamdanEverAfter! It’s a play on Happily Ever After. Oh! And the Save the Dates are made, and just waiting for us to print them. Why are we waiting? Well we haven’t technically booked the venue yet. I’ve talked to the venue event planner multiple times and will be meeting with her at the end of August to finalize a contract. So that is the point of this blog, I guess.
At the end of August, so like 2 weeks now that I finally got around to writing this, we are flying to Dallas. The main goal: BOOK THE VENUE. It is the most important part of our wedding planning at the moment. We will walk around the space, choose the food, choose the tablecloths, and anything else pertinent to the space or catering. Additionally, we are also going to some cake shops to look at ordering the cake. Plus we get to sample a bunch, I’m looking forward to that. I’m also going to try to look at some hotels, so that our guests have an idea of where to stay.
All of that is already a lot, but I haven’t told you the secondary goal of the trip: to get our parents to meet ahead of time. That’s right, family dinner! … at the restaurant we are planning the rehearsal dinner at so that I can talk with them as well about expectations. It will be the first time any of my family has met any of his, so here’s hoping it goes well! We were lucky enough to have all four of our parents agree to get together and meet. I’m really looking forward to the trip and promise to update everyone on how it went much sooner.
Regards,
Tasha
