We spent the last few days in Dallas trying to get some of the wedding stuff finalized, and I have to say that I feel like it was pretty productive. We basically had 3 days in Dallas to get everything done, and we made the most of them. First though, I want to thank everyone who showed up to support us this weekend, especially my mother who also drove us around all weekend.
The first day was mainly about getting some members of our families to meet each other before the wedding day. This was mainly for the parents, but others came out to show their support as well. We had my mom and dad, Sammy’s mom, dad, stepmom, aunt, uncle, cousin, and brother. We enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant that we are planning to have the rehearsal dinner at as well. This gave us an opportunity to scope out their banquet room, and try the food that will be served. I believe everybody was happy with the offerings. It should be a pretty nice rehearsal dinner for the wedding party.
The goals for the second day was finalizing a contract with the venue and getting courtesy blocks for our guests at some of the closer hotels. We met with the venue in the morning, a special thanks to my mother, Sammy’s mom, Sammy’s Aunt Pam, and Tiffany (one of my bridesmaids) for going with us through the initial walk through of the venue. While the venue was putting our package together and finding answers to our questions, we met with some of the hotels close to the aquarium. We found 2 really nice hotels to host our guests, and started the lines of communication. I’m nearly finished finalizing proposals for courtesy blocks at both locations to give our guests options (and discounted pricing). At the end of the day, my mother, Tiffany, Sammy, and I went back to the aquarium, signed a contract, put down the deposit, and guaranteed our date!! I’m really happy to have fully realized that goal.
The third (and last) day had a goal choosing a wedding cake/place. We met with 3 cake places (all with high online reviews) to have tastings. This earned us a major sugar high and crash. However, I found an awesome place that I clicked with and not only felt would do an amazing job on our cake, but would keep in contact and ensure I got what I wanted as well. I’m extremely happy with all our decisions this weekend.
Some bonuses from the weekend also included finding some affordable décor, and figuring out what we would like to do with other décor as well. Again, thank you to everyone who came out and showed their support this weekend. I feel even more excited about the wedding and especially that I am able to order and send out the Save the Dates ASAP now too!
