Lentil Soup
Lentil soup is one of Sami’s favorite things. So I decided to try my hand at making one. I looked up a bunch of recipes and then put something together that kind of averaged them.
I started by browning a whole yellow onion. Then I added salt, pepper, cumin, sumac, thyme, half a bulb of garlic, and red pepper. I cooked down the spices for about a minute. Then I added some beef bone broth and the lentils. I stirred it a little and then pressure cooked it for 8 minutes.
I didn’t quite add enough broth for it to be ‘soup’ but they were cooked through so after it finished, I boiled some water and added that and lemon juice.
Overall it wasn’t the best lentil soup we’ve had but Sami is already wanting to have it again. So that’s a good sign :)
