The last weekend of October was the OC Night Market. This was actually a lot of fun. It was half local art show and half Asian food festival (it said all foods but 97% of the food there was Asian). It was all delicious though (well everything we tried anyway).
The local art show was really neat. I love how talented some people can be. I wish I had more artistic skills sometimes, so I really appreciate those people who do have more skills than me. I bough 2 art prints that I now need to find frames for and somewhere to hang, lol. Sammy got a bunch of handmaid gaming stickers too. All in all it was a win-win. There was also a display of someone doing a mural in front of you. That was pretty amazing to watch too.
But on to the best bit … the food! We tried out a few different stands but got full way quicker than we were hoping to get full honestly. At the first stand, we got an order of takoyaki. These are basically little soft puffs of dough with melt in your mouth octopus inside. It was so good. Would definitely get again.
The second booth was Sami’s choice and he wanted to try the ramen grilled cheese sandwich. He gave it a 10/10. I’m a little more critical though. I found that the sandwich was too salty tasting (I think they used the seasoning packet in the sandwich). Though had it been less salty, I think it would have tasted divine and would have gotten a second one.

The third booth was most definitely my choice, but I needed a lot of help finishing it. I wanted to try the cotton candy burrito. This was a crazy concoction of strawberry ice cream (my favorite) rolled in Fruity Pebbles, then rolled in cotton candy, and finally topped with candy. It was incredibly sweet but also more delicious than I would have anticipated. I would definitely get it again next year.

The final booth (after walking off the cotton candy burrito for a while) was Sami’s choice. And I have to say, he did a really good job. It was chicken yakitori with grilled mochi. Basically, it was grilled skewers of chicken and mochi. One was brushed with a savory miso sauce (my favorite) and the other with a sweeter teriyaki sauce (Sami’s favorite). Overall it was a good way to close out the day.

I would do the Night Market again next year. It was a lot of fun and something different to do while hanging out.
