So let’s start with the week before the holidays. Sami actually got to fly home for a week and spend time with his family. He got a Playstation VR from his dad which I know he loves, he got to meet with some clients he does contract work for through Hemingway West, and most importantly, he got to see his family. I think he had a good time. Meanwhile, I was working and I surprised him by buying a bunch of Christmas decorations and having the apartment Holiday ready for his return. He was very tired the first day, but enjoyed it after he got some sleep.
My work was kind enough to give us the week of Christmas to New Year’s off. I decided to host a Friends Hangout on Christmas Day with some of the people we knew who were planning on staying around. I got us Christmas crackers which had crowns, jokes, and trinkets. Everybody wore their crown throughout the meal. I made Gumbo with rice, green beans and mushrooms, and a trifle. Technically, I made parsnips too, but unfortunately burned them. Oh well! Our friend Seth brought Mongolian stew, bread with homemade jam, and ice cream with a homemade caramel sauce. It was very good and everyone ate too much before settling in for some games.
The day after a great Christmas with friends, Christopher flew in to stay with us for a week. We brought him all over to show him the area. We took him to San Francisco to see the bridge, the wharf, the Museum Mechanique, the Exploratorium, Chinatown, Little Italy, Japantown, a 2 story GameStop, etc. We also brought him around San Mateo, and to Santa Clara to try some good Taiwanese food. We taught him the glory of Overwatch. I think he had a good time and got to have some new experiences.
Unfortunately, we stayed so busy that I didn’t have as much time as I’d hoped working on wedding stuff. I did make some progress though. My invitations and envelopes came in so I was able to stuff them all, put our address labels on them, and stamp them. I also ordered my travel case for my wedding dress which should be in this month! And we decided on our photographer and started the process of hiring her. Over the next few weeks, I want to finish addressing the invitations, try on my dress, order Sami’s ring (which he needs to get sized for), and start on my accessories. It will be a busy 100 days to get everything prepared, shipped, and ready for the wedding day, but I’m looking forward to enjoying it all.
I will keep this updated as I get more done for the wedding and the lead up to the big day!
