Our True First Thanksgiving!

This year we officially celebrated our first Thanksgiving together, as in just the two of us. In previous years, we lived close enough to family to just go to one or both of their houses. This year, however, we are further away and that would not be a possibility. We weren’t sure what we planned on doing for a while, but the week before Thanksgiving, we were talking to some friends who also didn’t have anything to do and a plan was hatched. A full Thanksgiving meal is a lot of work that no one really wanted to do, so we decided on Japanese style hot pot instead. Our friends Lana and Ming were kind enough to host and provide the hot pot for us, so we made lemon bars and brought fake wine. The food was delicious, the company was great, and a new tradition is born.

After our meal, I put a hot pot appliance on our registry. We have decided that Thanksgiving should at least be started every year with a Japanese style hot pot (maybe something to eat while all the food is being made). It was such a fun idea, such a good day, and this will be a lovely way to always remember our first Thanksgiving as a couple away from our families, and how much we are truly Thankful for each other.
