I’ll be honest with you, this week’s bento is not as adorable as many of my previous posts have been. And I didn’t really love the new technique I tried, but I think it’s important to share both when things go well and when they don’t so much.

So the part of this bento that I was less than pleased with was the turkey roll up. It was bell pepper, cucumber, and honey mustard rolled up in a piece of turkey. This sounds like a turkey sandwich without the bread, not too bad. But honestly the bread does a lot to temper the honey mustard and without it I found it very overwhelming.

On the opposite end though, I made rice ball triangles. This was delicious. I made baked salmon with a sesame, sriracha, salt, and pepper. I then stuffed the salmon in the middle of the rice balls. This was delicious, but honestly, I should have stuffed more salmon in the rice ball because I felt like protein was a little lacking this week. I do like the rice balls though; I make these a lot just for quick on the go food.

To pump up the veggies in the dish, I cut the leftover bell peppers into bunny head, speared my leftover cucumber, and boiled some edamame.

For dessert, I cut up fresh strawberries. These were a lovely sweet taste to contrast the overwhelming honey mustard. Also, for one of the days I got a berry macaroon in the shape of a panda head. I bought this from the store, but still though it should be in the pictures because it was adorable.

So this was my simple, and somewhat not great bento blog. Hopefully the next one will be more of a success again.
